Left Handed Golf

By: Steven Katz

Left handed players would be out there in every game and golf with all its popularity is no exception. However golf has conventionally been a right hander game and specific focus on left handed golf players and equipments for left handed golf players has been a growing trend among the golf equipment manufacturers who have been looking out for introducing adventurous and revolutionary products into the market.

Left handed golf players are scarce in number as compared to the right handed golf players and statistics show that there are a lot of left handed golf players who play right handed due to a variety of reasons. The major reasons attributed to left handed golf players playing right handed is attributed to the players using the left part of their body specifically the eyes to play the game. This appears so natural to many left handed golf players who actually feel that eyes take precedence over hands and play right handed. The other major reason is that most of the golf equipments that are available on the market are right handed and until the point where left handed golf clubs became popular, golf was largely right handed. The third major factor is that many golf instructors and golf training programs advocate the usage of right handed equipments considering that they are the most appropriate equipments to play the correct golf. The most common factor however is that the availability of used left handed golf equipments is a big deal and not every golf aspirant has sufficient money to acquire brand new left handed golf equipments. Now a days used left handed golf clubs are available quite easily but the fact remains that people are not left with much of a choice.

The best way for a left handed golf player to play golf is to be natural and to use the right golf equipments especially left handed golf clubs. Experts recommend left handed golf players to wait until they get their suitable left handed golf clubs and this often means visiting a huge store with a comprehensive collection of golf equipments or getting them over the internet. This also means that golf training should be taken from a left handed golf pro who has a very good experience in using the left handed golf equipments. This however might not hold good for left handed golf players who already have acquired a good comfort level playing golf in the conventional right handed way. To them it is like revamping the whole thing and learning to play golf all over. This is obviously unacceptable and it makes no sense for a left handed golf expert to go all the way down to learn left handed golf while he is comfortable playing golf right handed.

Ultimately the golf equipments used by a player could be chosen only by one factor - the player's comfort. If a left handed golf player feels comfortable playing right handed, it should not be a disturbing factor to the player's game.
